What is the SCVi Kids Creating Art Festival?

Here at SCVi, in lieu of a traditional Open House, we host an annual celebration of the arts known as the Kids Creating Art Festival. This exciting day is OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY and we invite SCVi families and friends as well as community members to join us as we celebrate the importance of art in the classroom.

Attendees will enjoy:

  • Original art created by young artists
  • Local youth bands and musicians
  • Dramatic performances
  • Martial arts demonstrations
  • Carnival games
  • A reptile petting zoo
  • The opportunity to create art of their own
  • Face painting
  • An obstacle course
  • Food trucks with a variety of delicacies from around the globe
  • A young entrepreneurs' fair featuring products created by kids

During the festival SCVi will open its classrooms to allow community members the opportunity to tour the school, view students' projects and learn more about the school's philosophy.

"At SCVi, we incorporate real-life experience and project-based learning into everyday lessons," said Dawn Evenson, SCVi's executive director of education. "The Kids Creating Art Festival gives our learners the opportunity to share what they've learned and what they've done with the community, which is why we replaced the traditional end-of-year open house with an event that's open to everyone."

While there is no charge to attend the event, there will be a nominal fee to participate in the games and hands-on art projects.
