Volunteer participation is vital to the success of one of our most exciting educational experiences: International Day! Volunteers are needed to research local groups or individuals and put in some phone calls to set up short presentations for our monthly International Day, when our students will gain valuable information about and experiences with cultures around the world.
Each International Day, individuals will come and give a short presentation on the country of the month. They may talk about typical regional foods and
maybe have samples, show off a native costume, dance, martial art, music, or folklore, or explain a period in history or unique
geography.
We will also have a display table available for books, coins,
instruments, etc. that the kids can peruse (but not touch). The whole
thing shouldn't last more than an hour or hour and a half, so each individual could present for about 10-20 minutes. We'd like to have 4-5
presentations per month.
In addition, a volunteer will set up a
bulletin board highlighting the country of the month.
We'd like some
volunteers to take a month or two that might be of interest to them
or to which they may have some connections. Please check the countries we've chosen
for the year. Thank you in advance for helping us make our monthly International Day a huge success for our students this year!
