Elizabeth, better known as Ms. E., holds a bachelor’s degree from Moorhead State University in art and theatre. After graduating from the university, she began working as an actor in Minneapolis and then Los Angeles. As a member of the three actor’s unions, she did more than fifty commercials, many films and theatre, winning several theatre awards, including Best Actress and Best Ensemble. Elizabeth taught at Playhouse West and Actor’s Workout and now has twenty-five years of teaching experience in the arts. In addition, she became a casting agent for a Diversity Training Company on the East Coast for which she cast hundreds of actors in roles for clients such as Disney, ABC Television, and American Express. When Elizabeth became a mom, she decided to homeschool her children and naturally transitioned into teaching homeschooled learners many subjects, including mythology, math projects, the science of color, Shakespeare, and improvisation. As director of art and performing arts at Huckleberry Learning Center for many years, she continued to infuse art and performing into classroom curriculum. At SCVi, she taught on the "ELF Team" for two years and is now facilitating tenth grade language, various technology/design courses and Theatre Kids/Theatre Teens. Elizabeth is also enjoying being the first MYP coordinator for the IB program at SCVi.As an avocation, she has painted hundreds of murals in businesses, homes, and schools.
Visual Arts Director and Facilitator
Kim is an artist and parent of an SCVi learner. She joined the SCVi family to begin a visual arts program. That small program has grown tremendously over the last four years and continues to expand and strengthen. She is proud to say that SCVi has chosen not to cut the arts but rather has made a conscious decision to invest in and grow its arts programs. Kim has been trained in integrated curriculum development for the arts and has begun her International Baccalaureate (IB) training for both the Middle Years Program (grades 6-10) and the Diploma Program (grades 11-12). She is excited to bring her expertise to the classroom.
